Wetsuit Rules

USAT RULE Article IV Swimming Conduct 4.4 Wet suits. Each age group participant shall be permitted to wear a wet suit without penalty in any event sanctioned by USA Triathlon up to and including a water temperature of 78 degrees Fahrenheit. When the water temperature is greater than 78 degrees, but less than 84 degrees Fahrenheit, age group participants may wear a wet suit at their own discretion, provided however that participants who wear a wet suit within this temperature range shall not be eligible for prizes or awards. Age group participants shall not wear wet suits in water temperatures equal to or greater than 84 degrees Fahrenheit. *Please note we will do an official water temperature reading on race morning.

Packet Pick-Up & Bike Racking

You MUST pick up your packet and rack your bike on Saturday at the expo. Please email irongirl@racedayevents.com if you are unable to pick up your packet on Saturday. All participants are expected to attend packet pick up on Saturday in person. This is due insurance liability mandates. All participants must show a photo ID. Each participant must pick up their own packet. NO EXCEPTIONS. A unique wristband will be affixed at this time which must remain on through to the end of the race.

Swim Waves

Swim Wave Starts Participants are assigned swim waves based on their age on 12/31/2022. Swim waves are made up of approximately 80-100 swimmers and will start every 4-5 minutes. Swim wave times will be announced 2-3 weeks before the event date. Participant swim wave times will be noted on individual packets.

Not Allowed On Course at Anytime

Strollers, Inline Skates, Rollerblades, and Dogs Athlete safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority for our event. For the safety of all participants, strollers (except myTeam Triumph), inline skates, rollerblades, and dogs are not allowed on the run course at any time. Bicycles are not allowed on the Run Course at anytime!

Race Number

One of your official participant race numbers (body marking, bike tags, bib during run, and ankle tag) must be fully visible at all times. The timing device (ankle multisport band) must be attached at all times in order to ensure an accurate time. Your race number must be visible at all times Swim – Body marking visible Bike – Bike tags attached and visible Run – Bib visible on front of body Participants who do the race without their ankle multisport band attached will not have a finish or split time, recorded, will not be listed in the results, and will not get credit for finishing the race. If your multisport tag is lost in the water or on the course, please report it to an event official the moment you get back into transition or finish the race. We will then do our best to get you a replacement and get you on your way.

Course Marking

You must follow the prescribed course and stay within all coned lanes; cutting the course is an obvious violation and going outside the course is a safety issue. You cannot cross a solid yellow center line for any reason. You must obey all applicable traffic laws at all times.

Transition Rules

Spray paint and tape of any kind is strictly prohibited to mark your transition location! If you must mark the ground, use sidewalk chalk. Balloons are also prohibited, as they could become a safety hazard for other athletes. All equipment must be placed in the properly designated and individually assigned bike corral. Furthermore, the wheel of your bike must be down on the side of the assigned space. You must return your bike to an upright position in its designated bicycle corral. You cannot interfere with another participant’s equipment or impede the progress of another participant. All bar ends must be solidly plugged. And you cannot bring any glass containers into the transition area.

Bike Rules

Helmets: Helmets must be worn at all times while on your bike. This means before, during, and after the event. Drafting: You must keep at least 3 bike lengths of clear space between you and the cyclist in front. If you move into the zone, you must pass within 15 seconds. Always keep to the right hand side of the lane of travel unless passing; riding on the left side of the lane without passing anyone and interfering with other cyclists attempting to pass is not permitted. Once passed, you must immediately exit the draft zone from the rear before attempting to pass again.
